Inspired by birds' migration and the natural world's collapse, this duet explores how nature adapts to destruction and what we can learn from the resilience and togetherness that enable them to survive.

Presented by FACT/SF, Bad Birdwatching is a duet choreographed and performed by Mia J. Chong and Emily Hansel. This work is a stroll through the forest that playfully addresses how humans unknowingly alter the natural world. Through mundane rituals and vignettes of gibberish, we explore the day-to-day guilt, or lack thereof, regarding the climate crisis and other social inequities.
This work premiered on August 25, 2023 at ODC Theater, as part of FACT/SF’s Summer Dance Festival.
